    This lamp is the result of an exploration into classic, enduring design—an object that resists fleeting trends while remaining deeply engaged with the materiality of light. It balances precision with subtle irregularities, merging industrial components with handcrafted elements. The design reflects a dual intention: to provide functional illumination while also activating more complex, open-ended associations in the viewer.

    The base is cast in pewter, grounding the lamp with a sculptural presence. A standardized stainless steel tube extends upward, supporting a Tyvek shade that is shaped through a tailored process. When illuminated, the shade reveals a delicate, marble-like texture, enhancing the lamp’s quiet yet expressive character. Due to the nature of the materials and the handmade production, slight variations will occur, making each piece unique.

    This lamp is both a utilitarian object and a contemplative piece, existing between functionality and artistic expression.

    Sigurd Nis Schelde focuses on crafting silhouettes that merge industrial virtues with the qualities of the handmade. The work is connected through overlapping techniques and processes, creating somewhat soft transitions between the expressive and more minimalistic. This is manifested through shapes or structures which similarly shift from being more rational and function driven, to being focused on the narrational, expressive and decorative; a dialog between inner imagery and manners of manufacturing.
