A relic from a fairy tale that never quite ended, Cinderella’s Leftovers transforms the remnants of a story into a sculptural artifact. This one-of-a-kind set consists of an ornate mirror and brush, seemingly plucked from the depths of a forgotten dream. Cast in pewter, interwoven with braided hair, and encased in a shell-like form, the piece evokes both decay and enchantment—a keepsake from a world where time warps, objects shift meaning, and beauty lingers in the discarded. This unique 2025 work is crafted from plaster, paint, glue, and recovered materials, merging fragility with permanence. Created exclusively for the thing Gallery, the set is an art piece rather than a functional object—irregularities are intentional, and its form resists practicality.

In her work, artist Julia Bonich frequently incorporates “objets trouvés”, found objects, which she modifies to create new pieces. The resulting jagged forms and striking material combinations evoke both rococo aesthetics and the whimsical style of Disney princesses. Her series Cinderella’s Leftovers provokes and unsettles with its bold concept and extreme visual language.
