Aluminium Veneer Bench by Bureau Parso
The Aluminium Veneer Bench is part of an open series of furniture objects by Eindhoven-based Bureau Parso.
The series draws inspiration from the manufacturing process of aluminum and the unique material properties it offers. The bench is crafted from aluminum, with a surface that mimics the appearance of wooden veneers. This effect is achieved through a distinctive process of aluminum sand casting and molding. The shape of the bench is simple, almost archetypal, creating a striking contrast with the expressive ornamental structure of the veneer. This highly skilled, craft-focused method of production ensures that no two objects are ever identical. While the Veneer series is open-ended, each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation.
Bureau Parso is the creative collaboration of Sheyang Li and Teo Rhe, merging diverse approaches to design and materiality.
Sheyang Li works at the intersection of object design and sculpture, focusing on research and the creation of unique production processes. He embraces the unexpected, shaping materials with just enough guidance to let their natural forms emerge, resulting in objects that balance control and spontaneity.
Teo Rhe, also known as Seoungjun Lee, is a Korean multidisciplinary designer based in the Netherlands. Drawing from his rich cultural experiences, he integrates modern and traditional crafting techniques to create objects that reflect his values and sensitivity. His analytical mindset translates into striking graphical forms, dimensional objects, and furniture pieces.
Together, explore the interplay between structure and ornament, tradition and innovation, crafting objects that tell stories through their materiality and form.
